What is your approach to getting people engaged with H+S?

Understanding their roles and tasks. Have discussions with the people on the ground doing the work and having them be involved in any improvements that may be required. Also identifying good practices and providing good feedback. Health and Safety is not only about incidents or change of process but providing praise to good work ethic and systems.

What is something that you are particularly proud of achieving in your H+S career?

Being able to influence positive behaviour change in individuals. Not just in the workplace but safe behaviour choices when outside of the workplace to ensure their family, friends and others are safe and not at risk of any accident or injury. Keeping ourselves and others safe starts with personal behaviour and that it becomes second nature.

What is something that you are particularly proud of achieving in your H+S career?

First and foremost, time with family and friends. Sometimes we get caught up with how fast life moves and we forget to make quality time for loved ones. I enjoy being active. Have always been involved in team sports from a young age, but have also taken on individual sports such as triathlons. Just enjoying being outdoors.
